At the Water’s Edge

At the water’s edge I’ll meet you

Where the lapping ripples dance

Where the wind gently sways

soft on the skin.

At the water’s edge I’ll meet you

where sunbirds come to drink their long sweet nectar of delight

Here where it is still and quiet

I wait to unfurl the burdens from my back,  the tendrils of warm sunshine asleep

At the water’s edge I’ll meet you

Where the moon dances at my feet

Where frogs croak their tiny tunes

And call out to the moon

Her full face reflected in a glassy surface of cascading lights.

At the water’s edge I’ll meet you

Where the flight of a thousand birds’ wings can be heard

suspended between night and day.

Here where sky meets land and

water meets heaven

And the stars

wait for their final curtain-call
